Confirmation is the second Sacrament of Initiation and is named because it strengthens and deepens — or confirms — baptismal graces. The Sacrament is conferred through anointment with Sacred Chrism, a holy oil blessed by the Bishop on Holy Day.
Saint Paul wrote of Confirmation in his second letter to the Corinthians (2 Cor 1:21-22):
Now he that confirmeth us with you in Christ, and that hath anointed us, is God:
Who also hath sealed us, and given the pledge of the Spirit in our hearts.
If your child is enrolled at St Pius RC Primary School, Confirmation will be introduced to them at the appropriate age.
